January is represented by the Garnet gem stone, though thought of as only a beautiful dark red stone, Garnets actually can range in color from dark red and tangerine to a bluish pink and vivd green. Some believe Garnets have both destructive and very protective elements. The crusaders put Garnets into their body armor. They believed the protective power of these stones would lead them to safety.
The Garnet is the modern birthstone of January- it is known as the stone of health and heightens sexual awareness, giving wisdom, enhances imagination and bodily strength, and is helpful in meditation.
February is the Amethyst gem stone. This quartz stone can be many shades of purple from lavender to plum wine. Amethysts is thought to deflect negativity and strengthen intuition and psychic abilities. It's considered to assist in love, friendship, sleep and have calming qualities. Amethyst is excellent for meditation because of its calming effects. The Amethyst is a powerful agate stone with many meanings. One meaning is sincerity. Amethysts strengthen and energize as well. I think the nicest meanings are softness and femininity.
March is Aquamarine and Bloodstone. Beautiful clear light blue to blue-green in color. Aquamarine boosts confidence and self-awareness. It is also believed to assist in clearer thinking, purification and psychic ability. Communication skills and intellectual responses are believed to be enhanced with this gem stone.

April is the month of the Diamond gem stone! Diamonds are carbon, the densest and hardest known natural substance. A very rare stone indeed. Diamonds are believed to have the qualities of prosperirty, spiritual love, clarity, trust and to amplify the attitude of the wearer. Maybe this is why diamonds are most often chosen to seal bonds of love and marriage. Diamonds are thought to be a"magnifier" of other cystals as they contain all the colors of the rainbow which, of course, can be seen in bright light.
May holds the Emerald as its gem stone. Emeralds are green and are known to show green fire in this birth stone. Qualities of this gem stone include knowingness of the heart, divination and psychic awareness, lifts depression, honesty, love, success and harmony.
June is represented by the Pearl or Moonstone. This birth stone means wealth, health and longevity. The pearl has been known as a "stone of sincerity", bringing truth and loyalty for "cause" to situations.
... Moonstone means intuition, divination aid, dreams and balances emotion. Moonstone is believed to be capable of helping with changing structures of ones life on all levels including physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
July is the beautiful Ruby gem stone. This intensely red birth stone means freedom, contentment, mystical powers, courage, confidence, vitality, stamina and above all, all things of the heart! The Ruby is for love, to open one's heart, to warm the heart, strengthens the emotional heart and intesifies all emotions.
August is the Peridot which is light green and the Carnelian which is a translucent orange to red gem stone. Peridot the �gem of the sun,� has a mystical reputation with its alledged powers of warding off anxiety, enhancement of speech articulation and success in relationships and marriage.
... Carnelian is a deeply religious stone. It protects against fear, envy, rage, and helps to banish sorrow. The message of carnelian is that since one "is" love, there is nothing to do but to offer that love. Carnelian induces inquisitiveness and initiative. It can assist one in theatrical and pursuits.
September holds Sapphire as its gem stone. This deep blue stone is said to protect and illuminate enlightenment, Aid in the release of ugly thoughts, bring joy, peace of mind and the fulfillment of dreams of your consciousness ( in other words LUCK!).
October is the firey Opal gem stone which unifies the green of the Emerald with the purple of the Amythists. Opal is an EXTREMELY strong stone that most people find hard to use. Opals are believed to be guides to the spirit world, spirituality and contact with the spirits. This gem stone also clarifies by amplifying and mirroring feelings, buried emotions and desires including love and passion. Stimulates seeing possibilities and success. Opals need to be moistened frequently with water or oil. Some opals can negate other stones, only use for the good of all.
November gem stones are Yellow Topaz and Citrine. November's birth stone is yellow and means loyalty and fidelity. Citrine is a form of golden yellow quartz which takes its name from "citron" the French word for lemon. Citon is believed to symbolize joy and happiness, to expel toxins from the body and assist in the digestive process. It is also believed to be helpful in the treatment of downheartedness, diabetes and attracts prosperity and wealth.
December gem stones are Blue Topaz, Turquoise and Gourmaline. December's birth stones are light blue in color and mean success and prosperity.
