About Buffalo berry: Buffalo berry is a tall wood shrub that grows in Western North America. The berries, though edible, are bitter and were often mixed with sweeter foods by the early Native Americans. Growing in well drained soils and dry climates, these shrubs often grown twisted and bent with stiff sharp branches and twigs like thorns. The wood is a grayish brown and the grain really stands out.
